The Lifestyle & Self-Care Solutions for Rapid Weight Loss.

TV personality Gemma Collins has experienced unexpected side effects from the weight loss medication Mounjaro and has been left shocked at the side effects of the weight loss medication.
‘This just isn’t right,’ said the alarmed TV personality, who reports looking significantly older and attributes the change to her rapid weight loss. “This just isn’t right,” she wrote on social media. Collins has been taking Mounjaro, which the NHS approved in January, and setting herself a very ambitious weight loss target.
Experts say rapid weight loss can lead to facial fat loss, making people appear older. Reversing these side effects requires non-surgical technology solutions, invasive fillers, or plastic surgery, as natural facial volume is lost.
The 44-year-old TV personality has always been candid about her relationship with her body image. In January, she revealed she had started taking weight loss injection Mounjaro, approved by the NHS. However, the treatment and its more famous counterpart, Ozempic, have side effects that can vary according to the individual. The drastic weight change makes some of these most noticeable around the face.
Gemma feels that she now looks significantly “older” after she lost two stone since being on the medication. “I don't know what's happened to me, it's just come on overnight, but it has been a year since I've had any little tweaks.
“Ozempic face” is a term used to describe the change in facial appearance following the drastic weight loss associated with the jab. Experts have warned that users can look more “aged” as key parts of the face become “deflated”.
“I've always had a fuller face, as you know,” Collins continued. “I do like expression around my eyes. I want to look natural still. But this just isn't right. What has happened? I am 44, but this is taking it to levels I never imagined reaching.”
In an interview with the New York Times, New York-based plastic surgeon Dr. Oren Tepper said the increase in “Ozempic faces” is unsurprising. “When it comes to facial ageing, fat is typically more friend than foe,” he explained. “Weight loss may turn back your biological age, but it tends to turn your facial clock forward.” The dermatologists suggest that to reverse the side effect, one should inject fillers, which can cost thousands of dollars. Dr Tepper says that when a significant amount of weight is lost rapidly, fillers may not be enough to restore lost volume in the face. At that point, he said plastic surgery becomes “the only way to restore the volume loss.” He said individuals using drugs to lose weight often do not realise the impact it will have on their face.
The drug is taking Hollywood & the UK by storm, and experts warn that the cosmetic downsides are catching up. So, blockbuster weight loss weekly injections, Ozempic and Monujaro, now also cause a surprising side effect in your feet, doctors say, and some celebrities are already showing signs. 'Ozempic feet' refers to sagging or aging skin on the feet due to rapid fat loss and it's the latest addition to a growing list of concerns that includes 'Ozempic face' and 'Ozempic butt', both caused by dramatic changes in body fat. Dr Barry Weintraub, a New York-based board-certified plastic surgeon, said that losing fat can impact water retention in the body and cause excessive sagging in the feet.
Ozempic, along with sister drug Mounjaro, is approved to treat type 2 diabetes but is widely used off-label for weight loss, especially among celebrities. Figures from 2024, which are likely an undercount, suggest one in eight Americans and one in 12 UK women have taken a GLP-1 drug like Ozempic.
Now, fans are speculating that stars like Sharon Osbourne and Oprah Winfrey, both of whom have admitted to taking weight-loss drugs, may be among the first to show signs of the surprising foot-related side effect.
Sharon Osbourne took to Instagram to share a cosy picture of herself with her two-year-old grandson, but eagle-eyed spectators quickly pointed out signs of excessive wrinkling and extreme weight loss.
Similarly, TV spectators noticed excessive wrinkling on 71-year-old Oprah's feet when the American host and television producer was onstage at the 55th NAACP Image Awards at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The skin on the top of the foot is delicate and thin and has lower fat reserves than the skin on the bottom or sole of the foot.
Others commented, 'Ozempic or Mounjaro made our arms, abdomens, bodies, buttocks, face, feet, legs, and thighs sag as their terrifying side effects. As you age, the fat pads on your feet can become even scarcer, leading to looser skin and wrinkles.
However, Dr Weintraub explained that taking weight loss drugs such as Ozempic or Mounjaro can significantly reduce the fat reserves in the whole body, including the feet, leading to excessive sagging and wrinkles due to muscle loss.
Osbourne hasn't commented on the potential side effects but has previously stated that she had to stop taking Ozempic because she was losing too much weight. The star's perfectly smooth facial complexion, which some users claimed was achieved with a filter, contrasted heavily with her feet. One Instagrammer commented: 'Beautiful airbrushed photo, but feet tell your age'. Another quipped: 'How strange when the skin on your hands and feet doesn't match the skin on your face'.
Dr Weintraub explained: 'Without having had the opportunity to examine in person, the veiny and sagging skin on the top and sides of the foot might be a result of the new lack of water retention due to a decreased BMI caused by Ozempic or other such weight-loss medication.
Ozempic feet are just the latest body part to be warped because of the rapid and drastic weight loss turbocharged by Ozempic and similar drugs. 'As the heart becomes less taxed with extra weight, the water retention decreases, and the substructures of the foot (veins, tendons, bones) often become more visible.'
In 2023, Winfrey admitted to using a GLP-1 drug to shed nearly 50 pounds after decades of yo-yo dieting. She has yet to comment on which weight loss drug she took, but she said she almost reached her goal weight of 160 pounds (72kg). In February, Winfrey was photographed at the NAACP Image Awards, and the skin on the top of her feet looked looser and saggy.
Once the ambassador for the diet program Weight Watchers, she stepped down after admitting to using a weight-loss drug and now refers to the drugs as a 'maintenance tool' and not a quick fix for dropping pounds. Earlier this year, the media mogul said taking weight-loss drugs, like Ozempic and Wegovy, helped her realise the truth about 'thin people.' 'One of the things that I realised the very first time I took a GLP-1 was that all these years I thought that thin people had more willpower,' Winfrey confessed. They ate better food, could stick to it longer, and never had a potato chip; however, to fix Ozmepic feet, Dr Weintraub told with the feet, it is possible to perform a "foot lift" with incisions located on the sides of the foot where they are more hidden.
Katy Perry also ignited rumours that she suffered from an Ozempic face after appearing on the red carpet with a much slimmer physique and a gaunt-looking face. 'Ozempic face' has increasingly been seen on celebrities, who look gaunt with sunken eyes, hollow cheekbones, and sagging faces.
Katy Perry, Scott Disick and Jessica Simpson have all been labelled as suffering from the side effects after fans noticed their slimmed-down looks while the stars were out and about.
Additionally, the term 'Ozempic butt' has been coined to describe the deflated look of a person's backside after GLP-1 weight loss. Some users who have lost considerable amounts of weight said their buttocks have now 'completely disappeared' and shrunk so much they can 'feel every bone'. Some even said the problem was so bad they were constantly covering up their buttocks because they are self-conscious of the way they look.
